IFRS/HKFRS 16 Leases was issued by the International Accounting Standard Board in January 2016. It will replace IAS 17 Leases for reporting periods beginning on or after 1 January 2019. IFRS 16 sets out a comprehensive model for the identification of lease arrangements and their treatment in the financial statements of both lessees and lessors. The financial impact for the adoption is IFRS/HKFRS 16 could be significant.

Edward Au has been Audit Partner of Deloitte China since 2003 and has extensive experience in auditing companies in Hong Kong, Singapore, the U.S., and the Chinese Mainland.
He is Co-Leader of National Public Offering Group of the China Firm and has been actively involved in various debt and equity offering projects in Hong Kong, the U.S., and Singapore. He is also one of Deloitte China’s spokespersons on issues related to initial public offering.
Additionally, he is Vice Chairman of the Corporate Finance Advisory Panel of Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants and Audit Committee of Hong Kong Red Cross.
He focuses on International Finance Reporting Standards/ U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and reporting matters related to Hong Kong Stock Exchange/ U.S. Securities & Exchange Commission. In addition, he has sound experience in leading teams in the region to serve local and multinational clients from a variety of industries.
Kenneth Chan is a Partner of Deloitte China. He has extensive experiences in IFRS and US GAAP, and initial public offering experiences on Stock Exchange in Hong Kong and United States. He has been actively involved in various debt and equity offering activities in Hong Kong, the U.S. and Singapore. He also managed numerous accounting advisory projects, new lease standards implementation projects and multi GAAP conversion projects.
