As an important business partner, accountant constantly provide data and financial analyses to business executives to support their decision making.
With the fast-changing business environment as well as the agile business models driving business development, are we confident that our management analyses, which were prepared based on historical financial data, provides the most timely and up-to-date business information to answer most of our stakeholders’ needs? How can we better understand the business environment in which the company operates and help utilizing more external data to improve our business analyses?
By having an overview on a human centricity problem-driven innovation process through Design Thinking (DT), we can understand the basic framework on how a business can better serve its customers and be more successful. Through drilling down one of the DT tools named Business Model Canvas (BMC), we can also understand the different elements in driving and orchestrating a successful business undertaking.
In this webinar, we aim at covering the following:
- Design Thinking – What and Why of it?
- Concept of human (customer) centricity
- Overview of DT tools and what does it mean to accountants?
- Business Model Canvas – the overview, interconnectivity of different components, its application and value to accountants

Mr. Liu is currently overseeing the corporate governance function of one of the biggest property development group companies in Hong Kong. He is also responsible for driving innovation in the group, realizing innovations through a structured innovation process by engaging all key stakeholders within and beyond the group.
Mr. Liu has been with the property development group for over 28 years with a wide range of experience including accounting and finance, company secretarial services, merger & acquisition, corporate reorganization, business and change management, internal audit and risk management, talent development and corporate training. In the past 10 years, Mr. Liu was responsible for the group’s talent development and corporate training, and had helped the group to establish their corporate university with comprehensive training curricula for all talents of the group, helping them to grow along with the development of the group.
