18 July 2022 IRD’s e-Tax Journey – Progress Update Getting Prepared with the eTAX Journey

The Inland Revenue Department (IRD) has been working at full steam to take forward a project on electronic filing (e-filing) of profits tax returns. The IRD launched two rounds of consultation in 2021. On 4 January 2022, SCAA and AWAHK jointly organized a seminar on “The Inland Revenue Department’s e-Tax Journey” which highlighted the IRD’s proposals for taking forward the e-filing project and exchanged views on the IRD’s proposals. In March 2022, as part of its consultation, the IRD uploaded the preliminary edition of the IRD Taxonomy Package onto its website with a view to facilitating businesses or interested parties to early develop iXBRL conversion or integrated software.

Taking this opportunity, The Hon. Edmund Wong, SCAA and AWAHK jointly invite Mr. LEUNG Kin-wa, JP Deputy Commissioner (Operations) of the IRD and Ms Emily Chak / Mr. Desmond Wong, Tax Partners, PwC Hong Kong, to give us the latest update on the progress of the e-filing Project. The Hon. Edmund Wong will be the moderator of the panel discussion on getting prepared with the IRD's e-TAX journey and addressing questions raised by our members and the relevant stakeholders.
