Event Details: Do you know in 2022 Q2, there was over 20,000 crypto currencies in the world with a daily trading volume of USD 62 billion while the trading volume lately of the HKEX mainboard is under USD 15bn?
In the first half of 2022, there were more than 1,000 investments within the crypto space. The two areas that saw the greatest number of investments were Gaming/Entertainment and Asset Management. Dominance of Ethereum (以太坊) in Decentralized Finance (去中心化金融, “DeFi”) has continued to decline, as other chains such as the BNB Chain catch up. Development in the space remains strong and fundraising in DeFi has hit an all-time high.
In this seminar, Irene will share her insights about:
(a) what is DeFi and how is it different from Centralized Finance (“CeFi”)?
(b) what should we learn to evolve with the emergence of new financial product and opportunities and how shall we protect ourselves from different traps in the DeFi world?
(c) what is legal and what is illegal? how does it differentiate from regulated and un-regulated?
(d) what is Hong Kong’s current stand when comparing with the other countries? Are we too stringent on the regulation?
(e) what is digital asset; what are the different kinds of crypto assets?
The seminar will not only give you a landscape of the crypto market and development but also going through some practical applications on blockchain finance project – Tea cake tokenization (a project under FSTB’s Proof of Concept Subsidy Scheme 2021) and how to use a decentralized digital asset wallet and decentralized ATM machines (an IFTA, HK Fintech Award and TADS Award winner on blockchain application 2021).
