Artificial Intelligence has become the buzzword for 2023. Everybody in the media, in government, across professions and in finance is talking about it. But what is it, and what are the moral concerns we should pay attention to with it?
In the webinar, the speaker will:
(1) discuss some facts and misconceptions about the state of AI today
(2) explain three general layers of ethical considerations
(3) address specific ethical concerns pertinent to the profession of accounting with regard to AI.
Speaker : Dr. Levi Checketts
Assistant Professor of Religion and Philosophy and the Associate Director of the Centre for Applied Ethics at Hong Kong Baptist University. His research focuses on ethical issues at the intersection of technologies and economics, with special attention to how AI and other leading digital technologies affect the poor. His monograph, Poor Machines: Artificial Intelligence and the Experience of Poverty, will be released this autumn. In addition, he serves as networking fellow for AI and Faith and on the advisory board for AI Theology, and leads an advisory group of Asian scholars for the Vatican’s Dicastery for Culture and Education on social and ethical concerns for AI.
AWAHK is co-organising this event with the Centre of Applied Ethics (CAE), Hong Kong Baptist University.
