The Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants issued two new Hong Kong sustainability disclosure standards, HKFRS S1 and HKFRS S2. The new standards will become effective for annual reporting periods beginning on or after 1 August 2025. In this seminar, our speaker Ernest Lee, will discuss the major sustainability reporting requirements in Hong Kong, helping you understand key aspects about the new standards.

Mr Ernest Lee, Technical Partner, Deloitte China

Ernest Lee is a Technical Partner of Deloitte China. He provides technical support to some of the largest audit engagements of the Firm. With over 30 years of experience in the accounting profession, he provides valuable technical advice on matters related to accounting, audit and governance for companies in various industries in Hong Kong and Mainland China. He is a CPA (Practising) and a fellow member of the ACCA and ICAEW.

Ernest actively contributes to setting financial reporting standards locally and internationally. He is a Past Chairman (2019-2021) of the Financial Reporting Standards Committee of the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants (HKICPA). The Committee is responsible for setting financial reporting standards in Hong Kong. During his tenure of chairmanship, he represented the HKICPA on many international and regional meetings on standard setting. He has been a member of various HKICPA's Advisory Panels on financial reporting matters for many years. He is currently a member of HKICPA's newly established Sustainability Disclosures Standards Committee. He is also a Convenor of the Financial Reporting Review Panel of the Accounting and Financial Reporting Council.

Ernest is currently a member of the Listing Committee of HKEX, a member of the Standing Committee on Company Law Reform, and a member of the Securities and Futures Appeals Tribunal. In addition, he is also the Immediate Past President of The Hong Kong Chartered Governance Institute (HKCGI) (previously "The Hong Kong Institute of Chartered Secretaries"). He represents the HKCGI on the Services Advisory Committee of the Official Receiver's Office. As an advocate of education, Ernest also serves as a professional advisor to the Executive Master of Accounting programme of Cambridge Judge Business School, University of Cambridge, UK.
