On 13 May 2009, over 350 accountants from 12 accounting organizations joined hands to encourage the accountants of Hong Kong in protecting the environment. The Hong Kong Government's Environmental Protection Department jointly organized with The Society of Chinese Accountants and Auditors and Association of Women Accoutants (Hong Kong) Limited. 10 more accounting associations, namely ACCA Hong Kong, The Association of International Accountants Hong Kong Branch, Canadian Certified General Accountants Association of Hong Kong,, Certified Management Accountants Society of British Columbia, Canada (Hong Kong Branch), CPA Australia, Hong Kong China Division, The Hong Kong Chinese Enterprises Association Financial and Accounting Affairs Steering Committee, The Institute of Accountants in Management Limited, and the ITAccountants Association supported and co-organized the seminar. Participants learned about the role of accountants in Caring for the Environment, the latest worldwide developments in various accounting organizations regarding the issue, Energy Audit and Energy Savings Measures, Environment Labels and awards and Government's support for businesses and individuals.
